born Maruti Shivrampant Kambli, was an Indian guru of nondualism.
- Nisargadatta was born on 17 April 1897, in Bombay.
- In 1933, he was introduced to his guru, Siddharameshwar Maharaj.
- Siddharameshwar gave him instructions for self-enquiry which he followed.
- In 1937, Maharaj left Mumbai and travelled across India.
- In 1938, He returned to his family in Mumbai. On the journey home his state of mind changed.
- In 1966, He retired but continued to receive and teach visitors in his home.
- He died on 8 September 1981 at the age of 84, of throat cancer.
